THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PALACE IN GHANA IS THE DORMAA ABANPRADEASE

The next time you want to take a breather, look no further than paying a visit to Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono region.

Whenever I visited Ghana, a friend of my husband would ask when I planned on going to Dormaa so he would tag along. Almost all his friends wanted to go with us to Dormaa and I did not understand why anybody will want to visit a town that they had no ties to until I stayed away for 3 years without going home. When I finally returned, I understood why my friends still talk about Dormaa years after visiting the beautiful town.

We used to get some volunteers from Europe, specifically Germany, coming to Dormaa for charity works and 90 percent of these folks returned on several trips even after the end of their projects.

The most vibrate town in the region with the most amazing human beings. The town is clean, beautiful albeit the vibrancy and busy nature.

Dormaa is the leading producer of chicken and eggs in the whole of Ghana and this sole occupation has seen hardworking young men and women raise their standard of living beyond the poverty levels.

The people:

The commonest job in the town is farming. Poultry farming and sale of poultry raw materials and its products forms about 60% of the jobs. This is because the community is welcoming and supportive of one another. They fall on each other for advice, sharing of ideas and veterans in the business are available and ready to offer guidance.

The Ambiance and the Air

The town is clean. In fact, the paramount chief has made cleaning a fun project that he personally leads in the town and all its villages. Nana Agyeman Badu II has visited about sixty villages and still counting to lead in this endeavor. From the police check point at the entrance to the town to the Abanpradease, one can see about 300 waste bins. All neatly and strategically placed. That is why the town is the cleanest you will find in Ghana.

After visiting monumental places and edifices in several countries and coming home to this beautiful palace in my hometown, I have come to place value on my beautiful town. I have now seen what a great edifice we have in Ghana.

Dormaa has the most beautiful tradition where the people love their chief and their culture. The town is blessed with a very wise chief who has lifted the image of the town.

My visit with the Chief and Queen of Dormaa Tradtional Area

Just imagine having a judge as your chief? There is law and order in the town, respect of one another and we are each other’s keeper.

We are respectful people who prides ourselves of speaking only truth to power. We stand up to bullies and defend our rights. We are not cowards.

There is no denying the fact that, the Abanpradease palace is the biggest, cleanest, and the most beautiful palace in the country.

The palace covers a vast plot of land, about 32 acres of land and can boast of, parks, residence, conference halls, offices, and residential quarters.

The palace is so beautiful that, it is amazing how this beautiful edifice was built over 60 years ago.

The place has a rich history of being inaugurated by the first president of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah in 1959.

The people are one and the love they show to each other is the best.

Enjoy some more visuals from Abanpradease and do not hesitate to visit the beautiful town the next time you are in the region.

The entrance of the palace is gated with a stool shaped gate. And there is a long walk to the entrance to the building itself.

The  beautiful place has a huge open space hall, where the chief sits to receive his guests and perform swearing in ceremonies

There are rooms serving as offices, break rooms, reception and conference rooms for meetings and other smaller events.

Behind the larger conference room is the wife’s quarters. These quarters were built to house all the wives of the chief.

Trust me, there is so much history to learn when you get here.

Most recently, the palace has been expanded  to include the palace annex mansion.

My time here was a blast! I encourage you to make arrangements and pass by anytime you are in the region!
