Seven Reasons Why You Should Join a Political Party

Are you passionate about what is happening in your country? Do you have a voice? do you believe that your ideas are perfect? If yes, how will these perfect ideas of yours make it to the political manifesto? It will not make it to the government’s agenda if you stay in your small corner with all the best ideas in the world.

If you believe that you have better ideas, you have the energy,  you have the enthusiasm or you have the voice to convince people, why not join the political party and let your dreams and ideas come to power?

The sure way to push these ideas into the powers that be will be to channel it through a political party. Trust that, that idea can be forwarded to whoever is going to lead your party or someone with a louder voice and it will receive the attention it deserves and the potential implementation.

Let’s face it, we are all politicians one way or the other. No matter where you find yourself, politics is at play and everything is politics from the country you live in or have an interest in, your workplace or place of worship, politics is at play and if you can bring out your ideas and to contribute to the shaping of your nation why not? I think the opportunities and benefits are endless and that is why you should probably find one and join.

We are all passionate about something and to survive in this world, you must have a job. In essence, you are either employed or an employer and your success depend largely on the government of the day. If you are an entrepreneur or a business owner, the policies put on trade and businesses affects the cost and profits of running your business and if you don’t take an active role on who governs you, you may be set up for failure.

Case in point is how on the debate stage, the then candidate, now President Joe Biden said he was going to end fracking. At this point if you are in the oil business, you should know that if such a person becomes president, you may not have a job. This is one of the reasons why you should be an active member or contributor to a political party.

If you are a private school owner, you should have probably played an active part in a political party so that when the then opposition party was pushing their free senior high school policy, you could have placed your school in the plan.

If you struggled to pay school fees and you had family members and friends who struggled to pay their school fees in the high schools, or if you cared about people losing an opportunity to higher education,  if you genuinely feels the need to help those in need and go out of your way to support people and If you have witnessed people lose their lives due to lack of healthcare or access to quality and cheap healthcare, then you would know that, joining a political party and contributing is the right thing to do.

By now you probably know that, regardless of how hard you try  and no matter how much effort you put into anything you do, without the right policies and regulations of the government of the day, you are bound to fail.

If the government is putting out bad policies and charging extravagant amounts of money, taxes and fees, a business is bound to fail so before you say I am not political, I don’t do politics, know that every decision of the politician affects you one way or the other.

Here are some of the benefits you get from becoming a political party member

  • Your idea may find itself in the manifesto of your party and potentially being implemented to help you or the people you care so much about if your party wins.
  • You get to be with a group of people that think like you. There is nothing more fulfilling than being in the midst of likeminded people. You will be with people with whom you share the same common goal to see your party in power and once your party is in power, your goals will see the light of the day.
  • By joining a political party, you get the opportunity to run for an office. You can become a parliamentarian or even become the president of your country!
  • Good ideas are not from only the select few. There are technocrats who understands dynamics of certain things like scientist, academia, finance and the medical field. Others who have experience and money and people living the situation mostly also have an idea of the problem as well as the solution. The more people you speak to, the more you will be able to understand the problem and find solutions to it. That is why, it is good you are able to have several people who can meet regularly, share ideas and propose solutions so that. The party can further deliberate and make plans out of it to help the people. So before you think it is choked or they already have enough people, know that, they need you more than you need them.
  • You could become the next ambassador, minister, CEO or a head of a bigger institution to contribute and shape your country and help other people.
  • You get to mingle with decision makers. If your party is in power, you get to be in meetings, lunch, dinners, and weddings with higher dignitaries where you can network and build your own connections for your own good.
  • The most important part of this whole thing is that, somebody will do it regardless of their knowledge, regardless of their strengths and regardless of their energy. If you believe you have great ideas and you don’t bring it on board, a less qualified person will do it and destroy it. This will make you sad as you sit on the sidelines and watch your beloved country destroyed by sycophants.

Wouldn’t you be proud and happy that, whatever you dreamt, whatever you wished for your people, maybe a policy has seen the light of the day?

Imagine if the Free high school policy was your initial idea? Thousands of children now have access to free and quality education and in the next few years, our country will be able to reduce illiteracy if not eliminated completely because the majority of our people would be able to read and write.

With the new loans program implemented by the NPP government, these high school scholars will be able to access guaranteed loans to further their education in the various colleges.

Most people have no inheritance and their only way out of poverty is education or immigrating and even if they are able to immigrate, the lack of education that they did not have, hinders their progress and they become stuck in menial jobs for the rest of their lives or they have to start all over again.

Joining a political party is not even about what you can get. Ghanaians abroad have had a very peaceful mind since the NPP came to power with their free SHS policy. Most people abroad were paying for the fees of family and friends. It’s not about being appointed to a higher position, it’s about seeing your idea manifested, it is about seeing that policy you had experienced somewhere in another country.

Imagine a policy from you is been implemented in your country because you threw out the idea in a political meeting? A political party supporter went for a political rally in Ghana and then when the president was passing by, he shouted “four more for you! Four more for Nana” that moment went viral and just like that, it became the party’s slogan and that is how the president won his re-election bid.

If not for anything this guy has been able to craft a slogan that the biggest political party used.

It is not hard, if you are interested in joining any of the political parties, just call someone you know and you will be linked in less than a minute!
