Be Mindful of your Words.
When you are insulting people in a brawl, please learn to be kind in your choice of words because you have no idea on the effects of the one at the receiving end.
Basically, you cannot take the words you spill out back and the impact on the receiver can damage the person for the rest of his/her life. When people offend you and you feel you have not hit them hard enough, kindly know mental health is real and it can drive people to depression and even suicide.
We have become so angry and emotionally damaged to the level that people now get paid by others to insult their fellow human beings. When you see two people fighting on social media, it is usually people that speak the same language and have lived in the same city or town before. Mostly, they used to know each other.
The Hate We Exhibit
Some people living abroad now uses social media for hurling unprintable words on their fellow Ghanaians when others are using it to make money by being creative and creating valuable content.
Our people will rather sit down, and craft lies about their acquaintances and people they have never met in their life. They put other people’s pictures on social media and lie about them. It has gotten so serious that, they are now putting their children in danger and wishing death for each other and their families.
Insulting people is not creativity but that seems to be the only content they have.
Here is the tickler, to be able to amass followers and views on social media, you must be insulting someone. Put a camera on yourself and name a prominent person and hurl insults on them and you will be surprised at the number of views you will receive. That goes to show most people are only waiting to listen to abusive words aimed at other people.
Have we become so bitter in our lives that, nothing makes us happy except the downfall of our fellow Ghanaians?
This became a niche at the height of the lock downs during the pandemic and it is still in vogue. So for close to three years now, it’s been the norm.
A few other people in the diaspora also decided to take it a notch further by targeting prominent people in the society such as the politicians and our traditional and religious leaders. The irony of it all was the fact that, those insulting elders of the society and calling them corrupt are the same people living abroad illegally or lying to the government to collect benefits and they have the nerve to point fingers at other people, a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black.
Hurting Other People Does Not Add Any Value to Your Life
I struggle to understand how anyone thinks insulting the other person will yield any positive results. So after using such horrible words, and granted your target sees it and he/she is crying and you have happily gone to sleep, and the other person is suffering, what do you get? What value did you add to your life?
Here is the thing, if those involved are not adding any respectable and fruitful value to their lives, what then will you be getting for wasting your data and time to watch?
Here are Some of the Reasons Why you Should not Waste Your Energy and Time Listening:
1. Your thoughts will be damaged. These killer words become stuck in your thoughts.
2. Your language will be corrupted. When you keep listening to such words, they become stuck in your thoughts and the probability of using such vulgar words become inevitable.
3. You will become a terrible person. If you start to view this as alright, you will become one of them and sooner or later, you will become as bitter as they are.
4. When you keep listening to a quarrel that has nothing to do with you, you will be forced to choose sides when you have no idea of the genesis of the fights. Gradually, you will develop hatred for the other person and wish them bad. Imagine having to add another person to your enemies list?
5. This whole mess will become a burden on you, and you may require a lot of mental energy to cope.
They always end up patching their differences so which side will you be after they become friends?
So when you log on to any social media space, the idea is to have fun and read something interesting and profitable. You should not waste your time on these unending fights.
This year, make it a point to learn something new. Read something knowledgeable such as articles, self-help, and motivational books. Take a class or earn a certificate, watch educational movies or better still, call that family member or friend you have been meaning to call.
Life is hard enough, make it easy on yourself.
